The Pigeons’ Potluck

An experimental Exhibition of dance, words, painting, and more.

Amoeba Productions Inc., a brand new performing arts nonprofit in New York City, is excited to announce The Pigeons’ Potluck, an event that showcases our commitment to emerging artists, diversity, inclusivity, and the creation of accessible art.

The Pigeons’ Potluck will take place on August 16, 2024 at the center of Tompkins Square Park featuring the isolated work of ten artists of different mediums, layered on top of each other.

About The Pigeons’ Potluck:

Two sets of emerging writers, composers, choreographers, visual artists, and costume designers will receive the same video prompt of pigeons fighting. Using their individual responses to the images as inspiration, they have had 90 days to create a five minute piece without collaboration with their fellow artists. Each set of words, music, movement, and visual art will be layered on top of each other, unchanged. Culminating in a public performance in the center of Tompkins Square Park. This project offers emerging artists the opportunity to create whatever they like and to do it on their own terms. As an experiment in chaos, it allows room for collaboration and development. Amoeba is beyond excited to be able to engage with the community of evolving artists and that of the East Village and the legendary Tompkins Square.
