Cause and purpose
Building emerging artists' toolbox
Our mission is clear: to create a platform for early career artists in New York, providing them with accessible, community-based resources to bring their innovative work to life.

What we do at Amoeba Productions
Spring Trimester
Each spring Amoeba will have a Developmental Lab that collaborates with artists in the creation process. Each lab will look different to serve the needs of each medium. Amoeba is invested in building new works alongside emerging artists from start to finish. In 2024, our Devised Theatre Lab produced the Pigeons’ Potluck in Tompkins Square Park. In 2025, we launched our Emerging Playwrights Lab that spanned over 4 months to help develop 4 new plays. In 2026, we will be embarking on a Musical Theatre Lab!
Summer Trimester
Each summer Amoeba takes to the streets and creates an outdoor immersive experience for its community. Whether it’s free Shakespeare in the park, or an interactive art exhibition, you can always find us creating in the sun. We prioritize engaging with artists of all forms and creating community-based programming.
Winter Trimester
Amoeba’s fall Mainstage and end of year mingle never disappoint. As a staple in our season, the Mainstage’s goal is to bring an emerging artist’s full vision to life onstage. Then in December we brave the cold weather for our third and final Mingle of the year, toasting to collaborators old and new!
